Jurišićeva ulica je do 1878. godine nosila ime Puževa ulica, a protezala se od Petrinjske do Vrtlarske (danas Palmotićeva). Ime je dobila po tome što je bila poznata po branju najboljih puževa u gradu, te po smradu gradske klaonice.
Na zagrebački Trg Republike Hrvatske smjestio se jedan od najpoznatijih zagrebačkih muzeja i simbola grada - Muzej za umjetnost i obrt.
